Al Ain: Heavy rain and hail storms began to lash parts of Abu Dhabi on Thursday morning, with thundershowers forecast across the UAE.
Rain has also begun to fall in Dubai and Sharjah, heavily in some areas. Police are warning motorists to be extremely cautious on the roads.
The weather system made its entry into the UAE’s western coastal and inland areas on Wednesday night as heavy rain and hail storms hit. Trees and electric poles were uprooted in some areas.
Emergency services were put on alert amid warnings from police and the national weather bureau for the general public and motorists.
Thunderstorm and strong winds have uprooted tress in Ruwais. Residents of Al Hamra, in the western region, told Gulf News that a hailstorm had battered the town early Thursday. Conditions were similar in Mirfa and the neighboring areas.
A thick layer of cloud was also seen over Ras Al Khaimah at around 6am and lightning and thunder was also reported. Thunder activity was also seen off Dubai coast.
The weather system has moved in from the upper Arabian Gulf after dumping torrential rain in Kuwait, Bahrain, Eastern Saudi Arabia, and Qatar. The NCMS has issued warnings for the several days of the pending inclement weather. The weather system has gradually been extending across the country with some high clouds Thursday morning in Al Ain as well.
The NCMs has asked people to be prepared for unsettled weather and heavy rain across the country. Abu Dhabi police has issued an early morning alert on Twitter, asking motorists to exercise caution due to reduced visibility as winds have been kicking up dust in different parts of the emirate.
Police have also warned people to avoid going to valleys and areas where rainwater could pose a danger to life.

About Kish Island.

Kish Island is a beautiful island and touristic resort located on the north east of the Persian Gulf (Khalij-e Fars) about 17 km (10.2 miles) from the southern offshore of the mainland Iran. Kish is a free trade zone.
To know more about Kish : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kish_Island

When we book the ticket the ticketing office do not give us any information about what will happen in Kish, unless we ask them many times, some they charge extra amount for the hotel and other facilities, for me they charged 750AED saying it is for the hotel, but the truth is you only have to pay for the ticket do not pay for anything else.
According to my knowledge, the Kish airline has few affiliated hotels (lodge), you will have to stay there they are especially for the visitors who travel Kish for visa changing. If they say Hotel it means it’s a Camp or lodge, each room has around 5 – 6 beds, everything is shared, you are responsible for your things and you will find many nationalities in groups, so you can join them when you go there, as a Sri Lankan I was with a nice group of Sri Lankan, they treated me like their own blood. And every one helps each other.

Woman arrested by Dubai Police for posting obscene videos of herself

Dubai: A woman pretending to be a GCC national used social media to spread immoral and indecent content that incites vice and immorality, Dubai Police said on Thursday.
Dubai Police’s Al Ameen services said the woman was arrested after the service received multiple complains about her accounts, because of her inappropriate and distorted portrayal of the Gulf identity in her videos.
Al Ameen service enables people‎ to confidentially contact the police round the clock with any problems or concerns they may‎have.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) investigated the accounts through their cyber crime division, to ensure the claims made against her were true. It turned out they were.
The woman was then arrested as she had violated UAE laws, and ignored Islamic values, customs and traditions. She also misused social networking websites in a way punishable by UAE cybercrime laws of 2015, under which it is a criminal offence to post pictures or videos that incite immorality and vice.
The woman presented herself as a GCC national through her accounts on Instagram and Snap Chat, and would post indecent, provocative videos of her body and clothes, intended to attract followers.
Al Ameen warned people against impersonation on social media, which is quite common.
They said people need to be aware of such behaviour, so they do not fall victim to con artists, blackmailers and people abusing social media for illegal gains.
Dubai Police urged the public to report any inappropriate behaviour on social media to Al Ameen Service, in order to protect children and youth on the internet.

Fire hits Dubai building

Dubai: A huge fire broke out in a residential building on Salah Al Deen Street near the Muraqqabat police station a little after 5pm on Monday.
The fire started at the five-storey Al Shamsi building, which has three blocks. The fire started in Block B and spread to Blocks A and C.
At 9:38pm, the fire was still raging in all three blocks of the building. Fresh reinforcements arrived as the Civil Defence team tackled the blaze from multiple angles. There was no immediate word on casualties.
Several massive explosions were earlier heard as firemen attempted to rescue residents stranded in the building. The blasts apparently came from gas cylinders exploding and the roof of one of the blocks seemed to have caved in. The wind was making the task difficult for the fire personnel.

Firefighters and dozens of fire trucks prevented the fire from spreading to a nearby petrol station and also evacuated a section of neighbouring Crowne Plaza Hotel.
Fire trucks with replenished water tankers were seen constantly moving in and out of the area.
Four buildings behind Al Shamsi have been evacuated and all residents were waiting in a sandy plots. Many of the residents were distraught and weeping.
People were seen moving around wearing masks as smoke has enveloped the areas even several hundred metres away from the fire site.
"My eyes are burning and I can't breathe properly. I am afraid for my kids that they might fall sick by inhaling the smoke," said a resident of a building opposite the fire site.

Fatima, who has been living in the building for one year, was at work when the fire erupted but her friends were inside.
She said: “My roommates ran out. But they couldn’t gather any belongings. All our valuables and documents and like passports and certificates are inside.”
The area surrounding the twin buildings has been sealed off. Residents of four buildings near the area have been evacuated as a precautionary measure.

Police have closed Salah Al Deen Street to traffic as fire fighters doused the blaze that started at around 5:52pm, a Civil Defence spokesman said.
Teams from three fire stations–Al Hamriya, Rashidiya and Al Qusais–are battling the fire. It was not immediately known if there are injuries or fatalities.
According to residents who escaped the fire, the blaze broke out around 5.30pm and they ran out when the alarm went off.
“I was sleeping, when I woke up with loud sound of a fire alarm and as we ran out we saw fire on the fifth floor,” said Shena, a resident of the building. She added that there were no fire exits to the building, which is at least 30 years old.
Another resident, Christine, from the Philippines said there were no sprinklers or other emergency equipment in the building.
“I saw the fire and I was looking for the extinguishers but I couldn't find any. Getting out was also difficult and there was nobody to rescue us initially. We helped each other and risked our lives in running out,” she said.

Metro services were suspended between Union and Abu Hail stations on the Green Line, the Roads and Transport Authority told Gulf News. The services would resume once the fire is brought under control, they added.
Thousands of people gathered on the road near Muraqqabat police station, leading to a massive traffic jam and authorities urged people stay away from Deira area.
In a Twitter message, Dubai Police urged the public to exercise caution.

Farnaz Davari, an Iranian expat who lives in the area, said she could still see flames at 7.30pm.
"I was taking a nap and when I woke up at around 5.30pm, I saw the fire from my 5th floor window. People on the street were rushing towards the building to get a better look," she said.
"The police have blocked off the road. Two RTA public transport buses are still there because they couldn't leave. People are looking on. My brother said the Dubai Metro Green Line is not in service on the street as the line passes close to the building."

Another witness, Indian expat Mohammad Hassan, said that traffic in the area has come to a standstill.
"I live opposite the building on fire, behind Muraqqabat police station, and I can't leave the area because there's no movement on the road," he said.
"The building has three blocks: A, B, and C. Fire in the block next to the petrol station - I think it's the C block - has been put out," Hassan added.
Some residents were in tears as they awaited the fate of their loved ones stuck inside the burning building.

Good times for UAE job-seekers for the next three months

Good times for UAE job-seekers for the next three months

More than 60% of UAE employers are definitely hiring employers in the next three months
Abu Dhabi: With the UAE being more attractive as a job market than any other country in the region, more than 60 per cent of UAE employers are definitely hiring employees in the next three months, a representative of a leading recruitment portal told Gulf News in the capital on Thursday.
“UAE hosts a mix of expatriate and local talents. Due to this, it becomes important to know which relevant skills, experience and qualification employers are specifically looking for,” Suhail Masri, vice-president of sales at Bayt.com, said.
Several fields of employment are rising now in Dubai.
“Nearly 66 per cent of UAE companies have hired new employees in the last six months, compared to 63 per cent around the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region who have done so,” he added.
What do UAE employers look for in new hires?
“Our latest research, the Bayt.com Mena Job Index Survey, which was conducted in July 2014, reveals the skills sought after by employers in potential new hires,” he said
According to the survey, employers in the UAE are looking for candidates who have good communication skills in Arabic and English (60 per cent), who are team players (50 per cent), have good leadership skills (45 per cent), and good negotiation skills (45 per cent).
“In terms of experience, employers in the UAE mostly look out for candidates who have the ability to manage a team, who have worked in sales and marketing or in administration. Keeping this in mind, jobseekers mush work on the relevant skills and experience,” he added.
“In fact 67 per cent of companies are definitely hiring in the next three months. Nearly 74 per cent claim they will either ‘definitely’ or ‘probably’ be hiring, in a year’s time. Interestingly, 21 per cent of companies will look to fill up to between six to ten positions, most of which, 36 per cent, will be for junior executive roles.
According to the Bayt.com Modern Job Research in the Mena poll, which was conducted in November 2013, around 41 per cent of employers always research candidates online at first.
“It is a perfect time for jobseekers to get online and get noticed by employers,” Masri said,
Desirable qualifications
Construction, banking and finance, oil, gas and petrochemicals are the fields that require employees currently.
“When it comes to fields that require employees currently, UAE respondents believe that industries which are most attractive as well as retain the top talent are construction (39 per cent) and banking and finance (39 per cent), followed by oil, gas, and petrochemicals (35 per cent),” he said.
“However, in the next three months, UAE companies will seek sales managers (19 per cent), customer service representatives (15 per cent), human resources professionals (14 per cent), project managers (14 per cent), and executive assistants (14 per cent),” he added.
Business management and engineering are the top list qualification of candidates.
“The most sought after qualification among candidates in the Mena region is business management at graduate or postgraduate level. In the UAE, the most desirable qualification is one in engineering, followed by business management and commerce. As the UAE has developed a gamut of higher education institutions, jobseekers can easily choose to pursue these qualifications,” Masri said.

Samsung confirms UAE price-cut for Galaxy S6, S6 Edge

Waiting for iPhone 7? Samsung confirms UAE price-cut for Galaxy S6, S6 Edge

Huge discounts on offer on the devices

The timing is spot-on.

As the Cupertino-based Apple Inc. gets  ready to launch its next spearheads, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus (or iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, as the case may be), arch-rival Samsung Electronics has announced a ‘price adjustment’ for its own spearheads, the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.

Following that global announcement last week, a Samsung official in Dubai has confirmed to this website that the prices of the two devices are set to be slashed by the end of this month (August) and that the decline will be in line with the global price-cut.

“Any global price adjustment will reflect across the globe, including in the UAE,” Hayssam Yassine, Head of IT and Mobile Team, Samsung Gulf Electronics, told Emirates 24|7.

“It will be applicable across the market,” he specified, “hopefully this month.”

Asked how much will the prices drop in the UAE, Yassine reiterated that any drop will be standardised across all of Samsung’s markets.

“The price-drop will be similar across the globe,” he notes. “That will be applicable here too.”

So far, Samsung Netherlands seems to be the only country to have announced a price-cut, with the price of the Galaxy S6 being slashed by €100 and that of its more expensive cousin by €150.

This implies that the UAE prices should go down by Dh400 for the Galaxy S6 and Dh600 for the Galaxy S6 edge, given the euro-dirham exchange rate.

The official launch price of the Galaxy S6 in the UAE was Dh2,599 (32GB), and that of the Galaxy S6 edge was Dh3,099 (32GB) even asEmirates 24|7 found at least three online retailers selling the Galaxy S6 for less than Dh1,800.

Online retailer Wadi is retailing it for Dh1,798 while Crazy Deals is offering the Galaxy S6 for Dh1,799.

A host of other online retailers are selling the Galaxy S6 for under Dh2,000, including MobileShop.ae for Dh1,828, Jado Pado for Dh1,829 and Souq.com for Dh1,949.

As for the Galaxy S6 Edge, we found only one retailer selling it for under-Dh2,000. Online retailer Souq.com is offering the dual-curved device for Dh1,989.

Further, Mike-n-Smith is offering the S6 Edge for Dh2,030 while Souq Baba is retailing it for Dh2,045.

“The mobile business plans to firmly maintain its sale of premium smartphones by flexibly adjusting the price of the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, and launching a new model with a larger screen,” Samsung had noted last week in its financial guidance for the second half of 2015.

Despite being a marked improvement over its predecessor, Samsung’s Galaxy S6 smartphone has failed to bump up the firm’s financial fortunes in part because of the huge marketing spend that it undertook to promote its new devices as well as a demand-supply mismatch.

“Despite the launch of Galaxy S6, improvement to earnings was quite marginal due to low smartphone shipments and an increase in marketing expenses for new product launches,” Samsung said.

The South Korean firm claims that it has now overcome mass-manufacturing hurdles of the curved-glass Galaxy S6 edge.
“Supply issues concerning the Galaxy S6 edge have been addressed. Moreover, the IM Division plans to enhance efficiency across the board, including product line-ups, marketing and R&D,” the firm says.
